What fits in a 10-yard dumpster?
A 10-yard dumpster holds about 3–5 pickup truck loads of debris. These are typical jobs that fit one 10-yard rental. This is the smallest bin: one room, a bathroom, or heavy concrete and dirt.
- Small bathroom remodel. Tub, vanity, tile and drywall from one bathroom.
- One-room cleanout. Furniture and boxes from a bedroom or small office.
- Patio or walkway removal. Broken concrete, filled halfway up the walls.
- Dirt or sod from a small dig. Clean dirt only, filled halfway.
Typical examples, not guarantees. Pickup loads assume an 8-ft bed loaded level.

Call now (281) 673-4344Will 2 tons be enough in a 10-yard dumpster?
Two tons covers most light loads in a 10-yard dumpster, but concrete and dirt reach 2 tons fast. A 10 × 12 ft patio slab 4 inches thick is about 40 cubic feet. At about 150 lb per cubic foot, that slab weighs about 6,000 lb, or 3 tons.
On a mixed load, that slab would run 1 ton over the 2 included tons, which is $75 at the overage rate. Keep the load to concrete only and ask for clean-fill pricing when you call. Heavy debris is loaded only halfway up the walls, because a full 10-yard of concrete would be too heavy to haul legally.

Will a 10-yard dumpster fit on your driveway?
The 10-yard dumpster takes a spot about 12 ft long and 8 ft wide, so it fits half of a standard two-car driveway. The roll-off truck still needs a straight approach and overhead room to set it down.
A 12 ft bin still needs the full truck approach, so move cars, bikes and trash cans before delivery day. A blocked drop means a $125 trip fee. Clearance and soft-ground tips are in the driveway placement guide.
Is the 10-yard too small or too big for your job?
Guessing too small on a 10-yard means a second full rental, since a swap is billed as a new flat-rate rental. For light, bulky debris, step up to the 15-yard. For concrete or dirt, stay in the 10-yard and keep the load halfway up the walls.
Too small? If your debris is light and bulky, like furniture or cabinets, step up to the 15-yard dumpster: 4 ft longer, a foot taller and 2.5 tons included. A second haul costs a full new rental, so round up when the load is light.
Heavy debris? Stay in the 10-yard. Concrete, dirt, brick and sand are only allowed in the 10 and 15-yard sizes.
