Storm and Flood Debris Dumpster Rental
Flood and hurricane cleanups usually start with a 20- or 30-yard dumpster for wet drywall, carpet, furniture and cabinets. Wet debris weighs more than dry, so check the 3 or 4 included tons. Follow your city's storm-debris instructions first, since some items may need to stay at the curb.

What size dumpster do I need after a flood or hurricane?
A 20- or 30-yard dumpster is the usual start for a flooded house, where drywall, carpet, pad and furniture come out at once. A 15-yard fits one or two rooms. Roof shingles, bricks or mud are heavier and need the heavy-debris rules: 10- or 15-yard only, filled halfway.
| Storm cleanup | Typical size to start with | Included tons | Weight watch |
|---|---|---|---|
| One or two flooded rooms | 15-yard | 2.5 | Wet carpet and pad |
| Flooded single-story house, lower walls cut out | 20-yard | 3 | Wet drywall and insulation |
| Large house, furniture and cabinets out | 30-yard | 4 | Soaked furniture and mattresses |
| Fallen limbs and brush | 20- or 30-yard | 3 or 4 | Wet wood |
| Mud, bricks, broken concrete | 10- or 15-yard only | 2 or 2.5 | Halfway fill line |
Sizes are labeled typical. Roof damage is covered on the roofing dumpster page, and limbs on the yard waste dumpster page.

Wet drywall, carpet and pad weigh more than the same debris dry, so a storm dumpster can pass its 3 or 4 included tons sooner. Overage is $75 per ton, billed pro-rata by the exact pound from the landfill's digital scale ticket. Let debris drain outside before loading when you can.
Example: a 30-yard includes 4 tons. If the scale ticket shows 4.6 tons net, you pay for 0.6 tons, which is $45. The ticket copy comes with the final invoice, emailed 3–5 business days after pickup. Read how dumpster weight is billed.
Should storm debris go in a dumpster or out to the curb?
Follow your city's storm-debris instructions before you load a dumpster. After a declared disaster, cities and counties may run curbside debris pickup with their own sorting rules, and some aid programs may want items kept separate or documented. A dumpster works alongside those programs, not in place of them.
Our advice: photograph damaged items for your insurance claim before they go in the bin. Ask your adjuster and your city what to keep out. Confirm with your permit office, HOA or landfill.
How fast can a storm cleanup dumpster arrive?
Book by 3:00 PM for next-day delivery between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Same-day delivery is possible only when a truck is open, and it carries a $50 rush fee. After a big storm, roads and demand can limit open trucks, so call as soon as it's safe.
You don't need to be home if the drop spot is clear. The driver texts or calls 20–30 minutes before arrival. Flooded roads, downed wires or blocked driveways can stop delivery; a $125 dry-run fee applies when the truck can't place the bin.
What storm debris can't go in the dumpster?
Hazardous chemicals, wet paint and batteries can't go in a storm debris dumpster. Refrigerators, freezers and window AC units with freon cost $50 extra per item, and so do mattresses and tires. EPA rule 40 CFR 82.155 requires refrigerant recovery before final disposal of those appliances.
Spoiled food should come out of a fridge before it goes in. Fuel cans, pool chemicals and motor oil belong at a household hazardous waste drop-off; see the TCEQ household hazardous waste page.
